TRIBUN-BALI.COM, DENPASAR - Warga Negara Asing (WNA) asal California Amerika Serikat Ryan Mathew (48) positif menggunakan narkotika jenis ganja.
"Iya dia positif menggunakan narkoba jenis ganja tapi saat ini masih direhab (rehabilitasi)," kata Kasat Lantas Polresta Denpasar AKP Adi Sulistyo Utomo, Sabtu (11/1).
Ryan yang mengendarai mobil Nopol DK 1422 FAA dalam kondisi mabuk menyerempet dua mobil dan dua sepeda motor di jalan raya Uluwatu Jimbaran, Kuta Selatan, Badung, Rabu (8/1) malam.
Tiga orang menderita luka-luka akibat ulahnya tersebut.
Kepada penyidik Ryan Mathew mengaku memakai narkoba jenis ganja sejak dua bulan lalu.
"Pengakuannya sudah dua bulan lalu menggunakan ganja," kata Adi Sulistyo.
Dia mengatakan, polisi sudah menggeledah rumah dan isi mobilnya untuk mencari barang haram tersebut.
"Sudah dicari tapi nggak ditemukan narkoba. Jadi gak terbukti dia terjerat pidana narkoba. Tapi dia direhabilitasi," tambahnya.
Adi Sulistyo mengatakan, setelah menjalani pemeriksaan Ryan Mathew ditetapkan sebagai tersangka, Jumat (10/1).
"Sudah ditetapkan tersangka sesuai dengan SOP yang berlaku, namun ia tidak ditahan karena hukumannya di bawah 5 tahun penjara," ujarnya.
Menurut AKP Adi Sulistyo, Ryan Mathew diancam hukuman sesuai pasal 331 dan pasal 310 ayat 2 Undang-Undang Nomor 32 Tahun 2009 tentang Lalu Lintas.
Dalam pasal tersebut ancaman pidana paling lama satu tahun dan denda Rp 3 juta.
"Dia tidak ditahan, tapi dia tetap dikenakan wajib lapor," tambah Adi.
Pria kelahiran 3 Mei 1971 tersebut merupakan warga negara Amerika Serikat dan tinggal di Bali dengan status visa wisatawan.
Seperti diwartakan sebelumnya, Ryan Mathew yang sempat kejar-kejaran dengan warga menyerempet empat kendaraan di jalan raya Uluwatu, Jimbaran, Rabu (8/1) sekitar pukul 23.30 Wita.
Kepada wartawan di Polresta Denpasar, Kamis (9/1), Kapolresta Denpasar, Kombes Pol Ruddi Setiawan menjelaskan, Mathew yang melaju dari Unud Jimbaran menyerempet dua mobil dan pengendara sepeda motor Honda DK 2294 FAE dan Honda DK 6572 FX.
"(Mathew) bergerak dari arah Unud Jimbaran dan menyerempet dua mobil di sana. Kemudian berkendara lagi dan saat berada di belakang sepeda motor Honda DK 2294 FAE, dia langsung menabrak persis di depan kantor BCA.
Setelah itu kurang lebih berjarak 3 km, tepatnya di depan kantor koperasi, pengendara mobil kembali menabrak sepeda motor DK 6572 FX.
Karena banyak warga yang mengejar, akhirnya pengendara mobil tersebut berhenti di Bali Pecatu Graha," kata Ruddi Setiawan.
Menurut Kapolresta, tiga orang luka-luka akibat aksi Ryan Mathew. Ulahnya itu sempat viral di media sosial dan diperbincangkan masyarakat.
