Berdasarkan pada rilis yang di terima detikFood (17/04/2013), Luwak White Koffie sudah punya sertifikasi halal dari LPPOM MUI Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Sertifikasi halal itu berlaku sampai tanggal 29 Desember 2013.
Satu di antara komposisi yang disebut-sebut mempunyai kandungan unsur b4bi yaitu emulsifier E471. E471 datang dari lemak, yang dapat datang dari lemak hewani maupun nabati. Lemak hewani bisa datang dari hewan sapi maupun b4bi.
Kode E sendiri yaitu standard internasional untuk aditif dalam product pangan, yang bisa berbentuk bahan pewarna, pengawet, pengasam, pemanis, penstabil, pengemulsi, ataupun senyawa anti-oksidan.

LPKP Surabaya Ragukan Label Halal MUI Luwak White Koffie Diduga Mempunyai kandungan Lemak B4bi Selasa, 19 Maret 2013 18 : 05 WIB. Kopi Luwak White Koffie diduga mengandung lemak b4bi. Sangkaan apabila kopi putih produksi PT Javaprima Abadi-Semarang ini “tidak hahal” setelah di ketahui kode E471 dalam kemasannya.
Di ketahui, kodifikasi makanan atau minuman yang diwali dengan hutuf “E” yaitu product yang mempunyai kandungan lemak b4bi. “Dikalangan BPOM tahu kode E471 itu kandungan lemak babi. Kami heran, kenapa product ini dapat mengedar bebas dipasaran, ” kata Direktur Lembaga Pengkajian Kota Pahlawan (LPKP) Surabaya, Zaenal Karim, Selasa (19/03/2013).
Ia juga mengaku heran, walau ada kode E471, namun dikemasan Luwak White Koffie itu juga tercetak logo halal Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI). “Tolong jangan sampai hanya label halal saja yang di-fatwakan. Lebel haram juga sekian paling penting dipakai. Saat umat diajak subhat terus menerus, ” tegasnya.
Zaenal menyatakan, kode-kode yang positif mengandung lemak babi salah satunya yaitu : E100, E110, E120, E-140, E141, E153, E210, E213, E214, E216, E234, E252, E270, E280, E325, E326, E327, E337, E422, E430, E431, E432, E433, E434, E435, E436, E440, E470, E471, E472, E473, E474, E475, E476, E477, E478, E481, E482, E483, E491, E492, E493, E494, E495, E542, E570, E572, E631, E635 dan E904.
Menurutnya, untuk tahu product makanan atau minuman itu halal atau haram harus diliat ada tidaknya kode “E” dan tiga digit angka dibelakangnya.
“Jika memang emulsifier yang dipakai yaitu kode E471 dan tidak ada embel-embel lain, contoh : lecithin de sojaatau soy lecithin, berarti product itu mengandung yaitu pork or varken (babi), ” terangnya. “Sebenarnya tidak hanya E471 namun juga E472, ” katanya. E471 dan E472 umum dikenal dengan sebutan lecithin รจ originnya yaitu ekstrak dari tulang babi. Ke-2 additive ini yaitu senyawa turunan dari asam lemak.
